DEDICATION
For Violet.
You held me at 11:11 on a Sunday morning and you never let go.
You spoke to me when I wanted to hurt people, and you said,
"Make a negative a positive. Turn it around."
This book is the turning around.
Me — I'm mother's light shining.

CHAPTER I
11:11
Lux Aeterna — Eternal Light
(LATIN LINE — HOUSE FURNITURE)
I was born on a Sunday morning.
February 1st, 1976. Mount Carmel West Hospital, Columbus, Ohio, in the heart of historical Franklinton. The clock read 11:11. Make a wish.
My mother was my only parent. I never knew my dad. Her name was Violet, and she held me in her arms that morning, and from that minute I was her light shining. I have spent fifty years trying to be worthy of that morning.
I believe in angel numbers the way some people believe in weather. 11:11 — make a wish. 444 — angels are with you. 4 × 4 × 4 × 4 = 4444 — angels surrounding you on every side. John 3:16. When the sun comes up over the country and the light breaks across the fields, I see it the way I saw it on the morning I was born: new, undeserved, and given anyway.
They called me Jimmy when I was little. I carried that name through the Bottoms like a lantern.
Say it: My beginning doesn't decide my ending.
Ask yourself: What wish would you make at 11:11 tonight?
Carry this: You were born on purpose.
worthy — deserving of honor, respect, or love.
surrounding — all around something, on every side of it.
undeserved — not earned or merited; given freely, by grace.
lantern — a portable lamp in a protective case: a light you carry through the dark.
Living Scene — in production under Eternity Visions™.
In the full living edition, this panel plays the scene alive: the country sunrise breaking across the fields on the morning of February 1st, 1976.
